Forget the classes, forget the Office, summer will be hot in the electronic sport with several 5 Star events.
Summer is not a rest period in eSport. While some will enjoy the sandy beaches, many professional players will fly to the four corners of the world for essential tournaments, from Las Vegas to Sweden via Spain and South Korea. Let’s take stock of these significant appointments.
- Traditional leagues on League of Legends
Fans of the MOBA of Riot Games will be delighted in the coming weeks with the pursuit of the LCS Europe and NA but also Asian counterparts like the LCK in South Korea. Every week, the teams involved will continue to fight to get a place in the playoffs. We will know the lucky ones elected on August 6. It should also be noted that there is only one week left in the Challenger Series where PSG has no chance to qualify.
- The DreamHack in Spain and Sweden
The Swedish circuit will be putting its suitcases in two cities this summer. From 13 to 15 July, the hot city of Valencia in Spain hosts several significant tournaments on Hearthstone, Starcraft 2 and Counter-Strike Global Offensive. On this last one, we will find eight teams of very high level, including the French team Envious but also the Legends of NiP. Much later, Malmö will host a huge CS: GO competition with $ 250,000 on the table. The worlds best will be at the festival, with the Tricolors of G2 and Team EnvyUs, Fnatic, Na’vi, NiP, Astralis and Faze. Note the date of this massive tournament: from August 30 to September 3, to change your mind if you go back to work at the same time.
- A huge Major on CS: GO
If the DreamHack tournaments do not lack charm, the massive CS: GO event of the summer will take place in Poland in Krakow from 16 to 23 July. This is where the new Major on the game will take place. The 16 best teams in the world are going to fight to split the million dollars that are on the line. The show looks great. Summer’s going to be hot on Valve’S SPF.
- International history
The international tournament is the biggest annual event on Dota 2, and every year it makes a name for itself for the quality of the game proposed, its organization but also for its incredible cash prize, without any comparison with what is done elsewhere. Again in 2017, TI broke records: $ 21 million in earnings! All members of the winning team will be among the wealthiest players in the electronic sport, thanks to a tournament! All the best of Dota 2 will be present, like OG, Newbee or Evil Geniuses. The event will take place from August 2 to 12. It will be broadcast in France on the channel Frogged.TV, Habs reference on the game. Gaming will propose a stream for the novices, to launch smoothly in the Esport Dota 2.
- Overwatch: the road to Blizzcon
Like last year, the Blizzcon will offer a tournament between nations on Overwatch, but this time the seats will be costly. In July, a prestige qualifier will take place from 14 to 16 July in Shanghai, China. The French team will take part, which is represented by the members of the Rogue team. Our chances of qualifying are high!
